Abstract

Retrato de la Lozana andaluza written by Francisco Delicado presents a peculiar relation between word and image. To begin with, this is done through the introduction of engravings which accompany each Mamotreto (Chapter), and then through the use of a narrative procedure that we may call “audiovisual technique”. Moreover, the transposition of History to films and to television during the 20th Century is added to this complex relation. The purpose of this work is to lay the theoretical foundations to analyse the relations between textual and iconic discourse within the framework of key concepts from Georges Didi-Huberman ´s theory, such as “writing in exile”, “montage”, “deconstruction” and “re-montage” and to specify the implications of the political praxis in and around Retrato de la Lozana andaluza
