Abstract

This paper studies Lázaro de Tormes' journey through different owners. It makes out several elements, in order to affirm that the multiple levels of meaning present in this novel are due to an integrated enterprise of criticizing and pointing out the crisis in the system of social relations: finance, exchange, religion, justice, interpersonal relations, customs. The author indicates as a source of this crisis the lack of distinction between real and apparent needs
