Abstract
The current article analyzes the unique features of the process of genre transfer of the English gothic novel into Spanish literature between centuries [1788-1833], fixed in a specially intense translation-adaptation period, that took place during the first decades of the 19th century, previous to the explosion that would coincide with the dawn of the romantic movement and that would imply the permanent twilight of the genre within our borders
